Speak up
in Korean
Nine speeches in Korean, each with romanization and an English translation. Listen to a natural voice, repeat after it line by line, then practise with the teleprompter, timer and recorder.
Speaking tips
- Stand like a black belt. Feet apart, shoulders back, chin up, hands still.
- Bow before and after. A small bow shows respect, just like entering the dojang.
- Slow down. Nervous speakers rush. Pause at every full stop and count "hana" in your head.
- Learn the meaning. Read the English first. When you know what you are saying, your Korean sounds natural.
- Shadow the voice. Use "Repeat after me" and copy the rhythm and the rise and fall, not just the sounds.
- Speak to the back row. Use your kihap voice, not your shouting voice.
- Look up. Read a sentence, then look at the audience while you say the end of it.
- Practise 5 times. Twice with "Repeat after me", twice with the teleprompter, once from memory.
Tap any sentence to hear it. In "Repeat after me", the app plays a sentence and then waits for you to say it.
Record yourself
Record your speech, then play it back next to the app's voice and listen like a judge.
Judge yourself
Say it
in Korean
Tap any card to hear it. Use "Slow" to copy the sounds, then hide the Korean and test yourself.
